Guided by Principle 10 of the Rio Declaration on Environment and Development, Greenwatch proudly stands as a committed environmental rights advocacy Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) in Uganda.

Founded by the Late Hon. Justice Kenneth Kakuru, Greenwatch emerged three years after the Rio Declaration, coinciding with the enactment of Uganda's first progressive constitution.

Article 39 of the 1995 Constitution of the Republic of Uganda explicitly outlines the right to a clean and healthy environment. Our vision is rooted in ensuring that every Ugandan has the opportunity to enjoy this fundamental right.

To realize this vision, Greenwatch actively engages in advocacy, training, and the promotion of the enforcement of environmental rights, staying true to the principles set forth by Justice Kenneth Kakuru.
